Tatra mountain guide, Tomasz Świst, Storm in Tazka valley

Storm in Tazka valley

The first day of August in the heart of Tatras began brilliantly.
First sun rays were touching summits and ridges high above while the valley still remianed deeply shadowed and cold. I woke up just before sunset to admire that magic spectacle of light. I took some photos and got back quickly under my rock to warm sleeping bag and fall asleep again with those morning views under eyelids.
Golden dawn didn't foretell what happened just a few hours later. Sunny mountain landscape around Tazka valley turn into grey and darkened within minutes and the whole area began to resound thrilling thunder roars' music, the storm was near... In a blink of an eye white clouds coming from north, along the depth of Bielovodska valley began to soar higher and higher and appeared above the lake and rocky threshold of the valley to fill the whole area with thick fog, it started to rain... Stopped by the weather on my climb to Niznie Rysy ridge, standing in front of my cosy rock house, I was waiting for the Sun to come back.
"Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan "press on" has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race." - Calvin Coolidge
